“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance”– Oscar Wilde
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection” — Buddha
We tend to often hear about “self love” in hashtags, self-help books, even when someone is doing something to better themselves like working out or having a “spa day”. I find that most people feel guilty about practicing this ritual or what they need is to be reminded that it is OK to practice “self-love”.
I here grant you the utmost permission and duty to LOVE YOURSELF! How do we do that??
1. It starts with that little voice between your ears. Be your own cheerleader!! Honor the little voice that speaks to your heart. That tells you to go for a walk, to skip, to dance, to speak up! Be your own most intimate lover. Know every part of yourself. Your fears, irritations, what makes you tick, what makes you laugh, what you love!! Speak to yourself with words of wisdom. Be kind to yourself. Honor your little voice.
2. Do what feels good to the soul not what feels good to the ego. What feels good to soul feels like a breath of fresh air. When you walk away you feel like you just went for a dip in the waters of the salted sea. You are refreshed, energized, and ready for more. The key here is consistency. Be sure to do this at least once a day.
3. Show up for yourself. It is so important to keep your word, not only with other people but with yourself. You know that saying “dress up and show up”? Yea, that’s exactly what I mean. The more you start showing up for yourself the more your confidence is built and the higher your standards are of other people. Before you know it the bar is raised!
